Aligarh Muslim University Riding Team won 29 medals in “Penta Grand 2012”, Delhi Horse Show 2012


Aligarh: The Aligarh Muslim University Riding Team won twenty nine medals in the Great Ghaziabad Horse Show “Penta Grand 2012” and Delhi Horse Show 2012 organized by Army Polo and Riding Club (APRC).


Prof. Tariq Mansoor, Secretary of the University Games Committee said that AMU has 125 years’ old Riding Club and the Riding Team of the University has participated in almost all the events that are organized at the national level. He said that for the first time in the history of the Riding Club, the AMU team comprising six boys and three girls, made excellent performances under the leadership of its Captain Amir Ayaz Khan and won several medals.


Prof. Mansoor said that the Rider Bilal Ahmad Siddiqui won Gold Medal in the UP State Individual Tent Pegging and Mr. Umair Khan Sherwani won Gold Medal in the UP State Individual Sword Pegging, while Mr. Mohd. Talha Anees won Gold Medal in the Gallop Carrot Cutting Race in the Ghaziabad Horse Show. Mr. Bilal Ahmad Siddiqui also won Gold Medal in Open Baseball Pole Bending event organized by the Ghaziabad Horse Show.


Prof. Mansoor said that AMU riders performed excellently in the Delhi Horse Show. Captain Amir Ayaz Khan won Individual Tent Pegging. He said that the three female members of the AMU Riding Club also participated in the Great Ghaziabad Horse Show Penta Grand 2012 and won two Gold, four silver and four bronze medals.
Mr. Nafees Ahmad, President of the Riding Club was also present in the press conference.
